The Legion of Rowers supports Juniors selected to race for New Zealand at the World Junior Rowing Championships each year.
We like the ‘synergy’ of masters supporting up-coming youth rowers. Legion members’ annual dues are used to create a fund which supports this initiative. If you’re reading this and want to join the Legion to help us to continue to support Junior Rowing, join the Legion here.
It costs each athlete between $8-15,000 to participate. The actual amount varies each year depending on location. Rowing New Zealand contributes to these costs, but is not able to cover them all.
The Legion of Rowers has been supporting juniors for decades. Any junior rower from North or South Island club/schools is eligible to apply for funding.
2024 Juniors
All Under 19 New Zealand Junior Rowers selected to represent New Zealand in the World Championship Junior Regatta to be held between 18 – 25 August at St Catharines, Canada are eligible to apply for funding.
In 2024 this is $650 per athlete. To gain this funding each athlete has to apply, read the Terms and Conditions and complete an Application form here.
In return, the athletes report back on their experience with photos within one month of the regatta.
